"There is a crack in everything,That's how the light gets in" - Leonard Cohen

Cavan's first exhibit, "Giants Castle" in South Africa,  painted in oil pastel, was shown in The Sussex Open at The Brighton Museum and Art Gallery in 1992. His first solo exhibition, "Zenworks", was held at The First Light Gallery, Brighton in 1993. This show consisted of 16 paintings in Indian Ink and acrylics which where painted in Poone, India. Cavan's work has been shown in the Brighton festival and in other areas of the U.K. Cavan's most recent work has been influenced by Chinese Chi Gong Masters.

In January 2010 I was the Art Director of  "Art and climate change 350.org"  A one day event at the Phoniex Art Gallery Brighton U.K.  Featuring 16 artists (Multi media) showing works that bring attention to the Global warming situation ,that effects us all in planet Earth.

"It is the function of art to carry us beyond speech to experience"  - Joseph Campbell

Before painting, I explored poetry, song writing and drama as creative outlets. Kerouac and the Beat Scene, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen created the links that were eventually to take me to Zen masters on the spiritual path.  It was after I stayed in Poone, India at the Meditation Centre of Osho that I first started to paint. I was given the name of "Nipun" which is Sanskrit for skilful.

My first exhibit was 'Giants Castle 'in The Sussex Open in 1992,  in the same year I had my first exhibition "Zenworks" in Brighton U.K. this was held at the "First Light Gallery". If I burst out in laughter for no apparent reason, then I know a painting is working. Picasso and the Expressionist's are conscious influences, as is the weather and the daily mystery of life.

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye" - Antoine de saint - Exupery
